GETTING HIGH-WAISTED JEANS

High-waisted jeans have gotten a bad rep, thanks in my opinion to the one and only Jessica Simpson. The look she attempted, which incorporated high-waisted flare jeans, should never tried again. Ever. (And, if you don’t know already, never try the jean-skirt-and-Ugg-boots look she likes, either.)
However, high-waisted jeans are nothing to fear, let me assure you. First, you need to realize that high-waisted jeans come in all shapes and sizes; they can be full and flared, super-tight and skinny, casual or dressy.
Second, the key to looking chic in these pants is knowing what kind of top to pair with them. Loose, flowy styles usually look best with this denim and should always be tucked in. Many celebs have attempted this look and have succeeded in looking effortlessly chic. Mischa Barton has been spotted wearing high-waisted skinny jeans; paired with a loose-fitting yellow top, skinny belt and flats, it is the perfect daytime look. Katie Holmes went for a dramatic flare, but kept it casual with a tucked-in tank and short-sleeved cardigan. I found my absolute favorite high-waisted jean look in an Elle.com Street Style post. This passerbyin with her loose, white tank; dark denim and tan belt looks so perfect for summer!
Now the only issue is figuring out where in St. Louis to find high-waisted jeans.  Luckily for us, Byrd recently started carrying J. Brand’s “The Bardot” style of high-waisted skinny jeans. And, believe me, they are to die for.
