FASHION: CULT STATUS
NEW HIGH (M)ART
Monday, August 24th, 2009
I recently stumbled upon a website for New High (M)Art. Having never heard of it, I was instantly intrigued and wanted to learn more. I delved into the site and what I found out left me even more enamored.
New High (M)Art is a pop-up shop located in LA’s Chinatown (it is currently moving to a bigger location in Los Feliz, CA). The store runs more like an art gallery than a boutique, with regular installments and constant reinvention. In my opinion, it’s the perfect combination of art and fashion.
The two owners, T-RIK and Miho Ikeda, founded NHM in October 2007. They wanted “to showcase undiscovered fashion talent”, as well as change the LA shopping scene. In just a few short years, they have done just that. With a stellar designer mix that includes Alex & Chloe and Brian Lichtenberg, NHM has set itself apart from the typical pop-up shop.
Those of us not living in LA can shop online via their website. I already have my eye on these Boos and Besito Single Shoe Blooms–add them to any plain pair of heels, and, voila, instant chicness. I’m also loving this Cher Horowitz Colored Mini Dress, on sale for $138! It’s reversible, and like the description reads: “Tighter is better.”
